One fully funded PhD scholarship is available for candidates who would like to work as part of an exciting interdisciplinary research project across the Creative Industries Faculty, QUT Business School, and the Faculty of Health. This PhD will be located in the Creative Industries Faculty and is offered to candidates who are interested in conducting research in the area of Service Design and Self-Service Technologies. The above listed topic keywords reveal areas that are involved in this topic. We welcome the submission of high-quality proposals and invite interested candidates to submit a two-page proposal. The scholarship will be paid for a period of up to three years, starting in January 2017, and will cover tuition fees and provide living stipend.

The PhD student’s work will take place in the context of a larger project (an ARC Linkage project), which will provide a rich research environment that will contribute to research methods training and mentoring throughout the PhD candidature. The selected PhD candidate will conduct qualitative user research on a topic related to young people with physical disabilities’ use of emerging technologies to self-help manage diverse aspects of their daily life, one of them being accessing employment. The PhD candidate will draw on the qualitative and quantitative findings from the ARC project to inform his/her research work on the design of future SSTs. Likewise, it is expected that findings from the PhD research will inform the ARC team’s project.
